Vitamin B3 Niacin (Nicotinic Acid) 500mg Capsules

(7 customer reviews)
  • Nicotinic acid is a form of Vitamin B3 that has vasodilation properties. This means that it expands the capillaries (fine blood vessels) under the skin so more blood flows to the skin making it red and itchy. This effect is called the ‘niacin flush’.
  • Though the niacin flush is uncomfortable it’s not harmful. It’s also a temporary effect in two ways; it disappears an hour or so after it starts and after continued usage it often stops happening at all.
  • Niacin contributes to: normal psychological function, normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system and reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Had an anaphylactoid reaction, spent the night in hospital. Perhaps something in the capsule set it off?

Anyway I had a strong metallic taste in my mouth (and I take lots of vitamins so no it was not the taste of the vitamins I know what they should taste like) after taking it which is a clear sign of an allergic reaction so please don’t tell me “oh it was just the niacin flush”.

Very good product, especially as it’s difficult to find niacin with flush effect. The 500 mg dosage is just right for me to control cholesterol level. Before taking this dosage, I started with the smaller 50 mg tablets (also from health4all) and slowly built my tolerance to the flushing. If you haven’t taken flushing niacin before, it’s better to start with low dosage to figure out the level at which flushing starts, as it can be uncomfortable.

My husband has been taking this product (Nicotinic Acid, the flush version of Niacin – NOT Niacinamide) for many years and in the process lowered his cholesterol from very high to within recommended limits. This product is so successful at doing this that he hasn’t needed to take any statins for years now.
